Looooong time buds..
late night writing sessions....always good to have a Les Paul nearby to caress and manipulate at 3:33 in the morning..because that's when the good ideas wake up...new songs are on the way.. fast times at surise skyline..it has been a wild few weeks indeed..we're hard at work in the studio and at rehearsals creating new music and forging new musical paths..still injured..and slightly traumatized, we have embraced the old addage, "the show must go on" ..and it is at this point I would like to thank Jon Preddice, Vinny Costantino and John Rienzi who've helped us out tremendously while Nick and Jay have been healing up..those were some exceptionally fun shows..different line-ups and skeleton crews..but we rocked..thanks guys.... Sweet Gig..Hey..so we were in the St. Joe's Battle of the Bands and we came away with the first place honors with a little help from our friends...Jon Preddice from Miles to Dayton took over guitar duties(hee hee..I said doody's) and he was superb as always..and Marissa Shultz was the lady who told us about the event and gave us the info to get involved..so thanks guys!! ..we also got the oppurtunity to play with a bunch of really talented and creative bands who we befriended and can hopeflly do more with..so def keep an eye out for that!! ..and of course we got the chance to play for a bunch of beautiful new faces and some gorgeous familiar ones too which makes it a worth it...we love you all... Injury Plagued Season..How old are we? ..I mean, Hot Damn!! ..we're falling apart over here at Sunrise Skyline..Anthony stubbed his little pinky toe and nearly broke the damn thing off(I'm exaggerating..but not that much..) ..Jon was in a car accident, and then got sick..in fact we all got sick..Nick broke the pinky on his fretting hand..and he is now recovering from surgery on the broken pinky..and Jay is getting surgery on his shoulder pretty soon...Ken seems to be the only one of us keeping himself right...good for you Kenny..well, despite all these mishaps and unfortunate events, we're just gon' keep movin' along..so hopefully you guys can catch us in the gigs and see who from the local music community will be lending a hand to keep the music alive..just a few of the local greats that will be sharing their unique gifts with us are Jon Preddice, who will be taking over guitar duties on Friday March 9th at the St. Joe's Battle of the Bands ..and John Rienzi will be slapping some skins for us at McCarthy's Pub on St. Patty's Day!! ...hope to see y'all real soon!! Be well..take better care of yourselves then we did...peace.love.and.band-aids... Week in Review..Felt like this week flew ..two gigs came and gone..good gigs..all the while Sunrise Skyline was experiencing a decent little cold ..I guess we came back from Puerto Rico with more than just tans...thought Jon's vocal chords were actually gong to leave his body on Saturday night at the Velvet Lounge..but Jon, being the super hero that he is, came through and the show went on..but we're feelin' it..if you have any great recipes for chicken soup or any great home remedies jot 'em down on our Guestbook ...thanks guys! ..take care see y'all around..peace.love.and.kleenex.. You Gave Us Quite a Scare, Jon..Let me just start by saying that Jon is feeling just fine... Yesterday, February 15th our own Jon March was in a pretty serious car accident on his way home from work..we're very grateful, and very happy that he walked away relatively unharmed...to those higher powers at work here..and Jon's plain dumb luck..we thank you..let Jon know you care..send him some love on our Guestbook.. Fiesta En Puerto RicoHey friends...so good to be talking to you all oce again..we were not around very much of late..we needed to get off this island and onto another..we inhabited Puerto Rico for a little while...but hey we're back and it was just the inspiration and relaxation that we needed..so keep an eye out because we're going to be inhabiting quite a few venues around the long island real soon..back to the studio..back to the grind..cheers y'all.. It's Flippin' Cold Out..Christmas is almost here..I've done, like, no shopping..I don't even know what to get anyone..maybe I'll just write everyone on my list a song..boom..great idea........ Fare Thee Well, Hubert..It was sad to wake up the other day and see that a friend had posted on Facebook, that one of the last real great bluesmen, had passed on...Hubert Sumlin's snarky yet sophisticated guitar playing set the perfect backdrop for Howlin' Wolfs raw vocal abilities on so many crucial recordings..both Nick and myself(Anthony) have been listening to those records for a good long time and we wouldn't be doing what we do..a lot of people(guys like Page and Plant..Keif an' Mick..and Clapton... all big fans..) wouldn't be doing what they do if it weren't for Hubert Sumlin..may he rest in peace.... Turkey ...amoung other things..Happy Thanksgiving!! ..although..technically it's not Thanksgiving ..so..I hope you HAD a sweet Turkey Day We're Not Getting Any Younger..Yo what's good? ..so you may have noticed we've got some new photos around..check 'em out..they were taken by the incomparable Laura Monte on a cold evening, just before dusk in Patchogue..let us know what you think of them on our Guestbook ..and if you scoot on over to the Calendar, you will see that we are mere weeks away from Thanksgiving and our gig at the Brickhouse on Thanksgiving Eve!! ..it's going to be a pretty awesome time..hope to see your wonderful faces there! ..peace.love.and.AC30's. |
